White Spotting on Brown Torbie Pattern

This is how the white spotting pattern affects the brown torboiseshell (portmanteau of tortoiseshell and tabby) pattern. Torbie (portmanteau of tortie and tabby) cats with little or no white spotting have small, intermingled patches, but the higher the grade of white spotting, the more distinct and larger the patches. Torboiseshell cats with mid grade (5 and 6) and high grade (7, 8, and 9) forms of white spotting are called calibies (portmanteau of calico and tabby) in the US.
